I count it a great privilege that I have lived the chiropractic lifestyle from birth.
My father, Dr David, became a chiropractor after he was helped when he became gravely ill as a young adult. This motivated him to travel to USA and attend Palmer School of Chiropractic as soon as WWII ended. He lived and practiced in Edmonton, Canada for a number of years before returning to his home in the Bay of Plenty. It was natural then for him to bring up his young family in Tauranga using these sound health-promoting techniques.
The inspiration to become a chiropractor therefore began for me at an early age. After completing my primary, secondary and three years of tertiary education in New Zealand I travelled to USA also and enrolled at Palmer College of Chiropractic. Graduating in 1980 I immediately returned to Tauranga to join the McCarthy Family practice. Then in early 2010 our daughter, Dr Lauren Frost, joined the Family Practice as a third generation chiropractor.
p5 the benefits of the chiropractic approach to a healthy lifestyle are widely accepted and utilised. The fundamental principle underlining this unique approach is that most of the time the innate power that made our body in the beginning is the innate power that can heal and restore our body.
We aim to assist that inborn ability to self-heal, self-correct by removing any blockage or impediment to the body system that keeps us ticking properly, the nerve system.
In my nearly 40 years of helping people this way I have many times been in awe of the bodies resilience when the cause of body failure has been reduced. In a nutshell “ Nature needs no help, just no interference. “
I was fortunate to be born into a chiropractic family and seeing the results of chiropractic care in people’s lives caused me to want to be able to do this for others. I graduated from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic, Auckland, in 2008 and returned to Tauranga to join the Family Practice in early 2010 after travelling overseas.
I love seeing the changes that as a chiropractor I can make in peoples lives. It is something so simple that makes such a difference and we see it happen every day. I am committed to enhancing the well-being of the people of our community, helping individuals lead healthier and happier lives by utilising chiropractic care. My specialties as a chiropractor include care for babies and children from pre-pregnancy through to adulthood.
I live in Brookfield with my landscaper husband and three delightful, energetic young boys. We make natural food, lifestyle and healthcare choices for each individual in our family in order to maintain optimally healthy lives.
I am a chiropractic assistant, wife, Mum and Gran to four healthy grown children and five very special grandchildren.
It is wonderful to see that our eldest, Lauren, has followed her Grandfather’s and father’s lead in becoming a chiropractor. I had my first chiropractic check-up and adjustment when I was two years old and the chiropractic lifestyle has been the foundation to my health care while growing up. This has been the pattern with our own family with minimal medical attention - just the occasional stiches or casts after biking, skating and skiing mishaps.
Our purpose at the Practice is to share this knowledge and experience with those that prefer a natural and conservative approach to restoring their health and maintaining a higher level of wellbeing. Our clients range from new-borns, being checked for birth trauma difficulties, right through to the very elderly wishing to get the best quality out of their last years.
Outside the office my other interests include piano teaching, cooking, sewing and knitting, and enjoying the outdoors, walking our local tracks and biking with Allan on our electric bikes on our wonderful New Zealand rail trails.
