As Chiropractors....    what do we do?

Chiropractic focuses on helping the body’s innate ability to heal, allowing your body to express its full health and life potential. It is based on the principle that the body is an intelligent, self healing, organised being. Your body wants to be healthy* and vital and is striving to do this every minute of the day.

The body’s control system is the nervous system, made up of the brain and the spinal cord. This is what controls and communicates with all the other systems, telling every cell and organ what to do and receiving information about what is happening in the body. This system is so important it is encased in bone (skull and spine) and is one of the first systems that develop in a foetus.

When your nervous system is interfered with (called a subluxation), information being relayed between the brain and the body and the body and the brain is changed or stopped. This means the body cannot respond by doing the things that it should be to enable true health.

Interference to the nervous systems is caused by many different stressors in three main categories

Mental/Emotional : Relationships, Financial Difficulties, Family Problems, Work Pressure,
Chemical : Poor Diet, Alcohol, Tobacco, Medication, Dehydration, Pollution, Preservatives, Coffee
Physical : Birth, Birth Trauma, Childhood Injuries, Accidents, Body Habits, Work And Activity Postures, Lack Of Exercise

Chiropractors work with the body, removing this interference by making adjustments to the spine (housing the spinal cord). These trigger the nervous system to help it by changing the body’s chemistry, physiology and anatomy to restore proper function and optimal communication in the body.

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” – World Health Organisation

A body that is functioning optimally is one that is alert, awake and asleep at appropriate times, fully able to develop through childhood, able to adapt to the environment around it, happy, positive and a joy to be around.

“ Nature needs no help, just no interference “
